Jakarta. Telkom Indonesia approved a dividend payment of Rp 16.6 trillion ($1.19 billion) during its annual shareholder meeting for the 2017 fiscal year on Friday (27/04), marking the highest payout in the past three years.
The meeting approved a payout ratio of 75 percent, with 60 percent, or Rp 13.3 trillion, in cash and 15 percent, or Rp 3.3 trillion in a special dividend.
The remaining 25 percent, or Rp 5.5 trillion, is retained earnings.
The cash and special dividends will be distributed to shareholders who were listed in the company's register of shareholders as of 4.15 p.m. on May 11. The dividends will be distributed by no later than May 31 this year.
According to Telkom Indonesia president director Alex Sinaga, the company had a very satisfactory performance in 2017, with revenue having increased more than 10 percent despite stiffer competition in the country's telecommunications industry.
Telkom's revenue growth was mainly due to growth in its data, internet and information technology services, supported by an increasing number of IndiHome subscribers and greater use of ICT solution services by corporate clients. The company's operating revenue rose to Rp 128.3 trillion last year.
"The contribution of the data, internet and IT services shows that the company is already becoming a digital telecommunications company," Alex said in a press release on Monday.
